ephemeral beings explores the profound beauty found within the seemingly ordinary moments of day to day life with a loved one. These moments are often dismissed, deemed too mundane to be anything noteworthy; but I think that’s something that needs to be changed. It’s such a privilege to be able to experience these moments of daily life, which if looked at more closely, are subtle but strong signs of a shared connection within two people. This series is a visual narrative of interlinked intimacy.

The framing of the images was done with the intention of being reminiscent of the way that people hold onto nostalgia in the home; little photobooth strips tucked into mirrors, polaroids a friend took of you taped up on the fridge, and all of the other nooks and crannies that memories find themselves tucked away in. With the main images in each frame acting as an anchor for the series, the smaller photographs secured on the outside of the glass build the environment in which the two subjects live; where all of the small but significant moments exist within each other.

The word ‘ephemera’ means “lasting for a short time”, and that applies to not only these beautiful, intimate moments, but also us as people; and I want to remember everything.
